This week, I did something I never thought I'd do: I signed up for a food subscription box. I was sitting in my bed watching Say Yes to the Dress on Hulu when the same commercials for Home Chef kept popping up on my screen. The first view or two didn't affect me, but after seeing the commercial a few more times, I started to think about what it would be like to have those beautiful looking meals without having to go to the grocery store and pick everything out myself. To have this beautiful looking food delivered to my home and all I have to do is follow a recipe to cook it.
I don't know about you, but I love delicious food and want to cook at home more often. I don't have the time to look up elaborate recipes or shop for all of the ingredients to make elaborate meals, and I'd rather not invest in tons on of ingredients especially when most of them will most likely to go to waste. I did a little research and when I saw I'd get a discount upon signing up to âHome Chef and that I could skip whatever weeks I wanted, I decided to sign up to this meal delivery service and give it a try.
I subscribed on November 5th, and my first box is to arrive November 13th. I don't plan on cooking necessarily every day, and I'll be cooking for myself except for when I cook for my boyfriend when he comes over, so I selected the 2 servings per meal option, and I'm starting with 2 meals a week just to see if I like them and to have flexibility to still make my own dishes throughout the week as well. My total for 2 meals with 2 servings each originally came up to $49.80 as the meals together were $39.80 and shipping is $10, but they gave me a $30 credit upon joining which brought my grand total for my first box down to $19.80. That's truly a steal for what the meals are, and I'll be sure to tell you the names/descriptions of the meals I chose and what came in the box as soon as everything arrives.
Do you have a food subscription service? Which one do you have and how do you like it? Are you considering trying one?
