So, I got my first Home Chef box, and it was pretty awesome. I would give it an 8/10, and if you want to know all about my experience, how the meals turned out, etc., then keep reading.
I ordered two meals for my first box, and I cooked one of the meals the day I received the package. Opening my first box was a very thrilling experience. I opened a fully insulated package with two large ice packs included, and it felt like a freezer inside.
The meal I will be showing today is the Home Chef Sweet and Sour Shrimp Noodles meal. I am a vegetarian but do eat seafood on occasion which is why I chose this meal.
Each meal is separated and bagged which makes it really easy to make your meals and know exactly what you need. Everything came super fresh and looked great!
I actually made shrimp for the first time with this meal. The shrimp came in a separate pack and were very easy to thaw. The tails were taken off which was great too.
Each meal comes with a hole punched recipe card with a photo of the finished meal making it easy to remake in the future if you choose. The card fits in a standard sized binder (that's also included)!
Here's a sneak preview of the ingredients I cooked/prepared before I mixed everything together for the final look.
And this is the final result! The meal was super easy to make and gave me inspiration to cook. The recipe was easy to follow, and the level was easy. My boyfriend cooked the second meal for us, and the difficulty level was expert, and there was only one part of the recipe that was a little challenging, but the meal turned out great.
Overall I highly recommend Home Chef--the service is great. My only comments/notes are that I don't like many of the vegetarian meals they have (and they have a limited amount of vegetarian meals each week), so I've skipped quite a number of weeks and will probably skip more. Also, if you don't like eating the same thing and prefer to eat different recipes and dishes often, this service is great as they send you every ingredient needed for the recipe and give you the exact amount necessary, but if you want to repeat meals you enjoy, it'd be more cost effective to pick up the ingredients from the store and remake your favorites.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post or that it helped in some way!
